Dresden work mull fichu
European, ca. 1730
$900 | Inquire
Fichu of delicate cotton mull with whitework embroidery and Dresden work, a type of pulled thread embroidery especially popular during the eighteenth century which may have initially mimicked designs in lace—and which was also sold by lace purveyors in the period—but later became fashionable on its own. The various filling patterns used along the border of this fichu include chevrons of different widths, diamonds, and starbursts.

Condition: scattered small tears to the mull; see photo of the complete fichu.
