Silk cannelé chasuble panels depicting Juno in her chariot
Probably French, ca. 1733–40

Pair of mirrored green silk cannelé and tabby panels, heavily brocaded with polychrome silk and two kinds of gold and silver thread with architectural motifs, lush large–scale florals and foliage, and mythological figures; the goddess Juno is seated in her peacock–drawn chariot atop a cloud.

The two panels originally formed the sides of a chasuble; click here to see both lengths.
