Embroidered Yellow Cotton Dress
English, 1830s

Dress of sheer acid–yellow organdy (heavily sized) embroidered in chainstitch with purple sprigs; bodice and skirt trimmed with scalloped flounce of same edged with purple satin trim; short puffed sleeves; center back hook-and-eye closure and tie at neck. Unlined except for wide facing at hem of white cotton and horsehair in sleeves.
