THE CORA GINSBURG
GALLERY
As a collector and dealer, the name Cora Ginsburg has been associated
with fine and rare costume and antique textiles since the 1940s.
Founded in 1971, the company specializes
in museum quality antique costume of the 18th and 19th
centuries and in European embroideries, silks, and printed
textiles of the 17th - 20th centuries. Owner and director
Titi Halle has been with the gallery since 1981.
Cora Ginsburg LLC collects,
consults and appraises for museums and private collectors
in North
and South America, Europe and Asia.
The gallery is located in the center of Manhattan
and is open on weekdays by appointment.

TITI HALLE
In 1979, Titi Halle met the renowned
Cora Ginsburg; Ms. Halle became
director of the business in 1985 and the owner in 1997. She is a member
of the
National Antique and Art Dealers
Association of America, the Centre
International d’Etude des Textiles Anciens, the Costume
Society of America, and the Textile
Society of America. Ms. Halle has participated
as a textile expert on the Antiques
Road Show, now in its eleventh
season.
Ms. Halle has lectured at the Textile
Museum, Washington D.C., the
Detroit
Institute of Art, the Annual Colonial Williamsburg Antiques
Forum,
Sotheby’s
Institute and at various other museums and historical societies across
the United
States. She
serves on the Textile Vetting Committees for numerous fairs including
the Grosvenor House Antique
Fair, the Olympia
Fine Art and Antiques Fair in London, the European
Fine Art Fair in Maastricht,
the Netherlands, and the International
Fine Art and Antiques Fair and
Winter Antiques Show in New York. For the past 10 years, Ms. Halle
has organized and published the annual catalogue for Cora Ginsburg
LLC, featuring rare costume, textiles and needlework.

MICHELE MAJER
Michele Majer has been with Cora Ginsburg LLC as a research associate
since 1995. In addition to her work for the gallery, she is an
Assistant Professor at Bard Graduate
Center, NY, where she teaches
courses in clothing and textile history. Ms. Majer received her
BA at Barnard College and her MA at New York University. She
was on the curatorial staff at the Costume
Institute, Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1986–1993. Her publications include: “American
Women and French Fashion,” The Age of Napoleon: Costume
from Revolution to Empire, 1789–1815; “La Quatrième
Unité: Costume and Fashion in Genre Historique Painting,” Romance
and Chivalry: History and Literature Reflected in Early Nineteenth-Century
French Painting; The Wright’s Ferry Mansion: The Collection
(contributing author); Encyclopedia of Clothing and Fashion (contributing
author). Ms. Majer has lectured on various aspects of clothing
history throughout the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom,
and is also a contributor to the yearly Cora Ginsburg catalogue.
LEIGH WISHNER
Leigh Wishner has been with Cora Ginsburg LLC as an associate
since 2001. Her background includes an undergraduate degree in
Art History and Archaeology from Barnard College, and a M.A.
in Clothing and Textile History at Bard
Graduate Center, NY.
Ms. Wishner’s publications include her Master’s thesis, “How
the Leopard Changes Its Spots: Leopard in Western Fashion History,
1720 – 1960” (2004); she has been a contributor to
the yearly Cora Ginsburg catalogue since 2002. In 2005, Ms. Wishner
co-curated the exhibition “Fabricating Modernity: The Spirit
of Art Deco in French Textiles and Fashion, 1910-1940,” a
collaboration with Leonard Fox Ltd. She has also been a guest
lecturer for the Graduate Program at Fashion
Institute of Technology,
NY, on the subject of 20th century textiles.
