Masker (Masks)
Printed cotton designed by Viola Gråsten and
produced by the Nordiska Kompaniet Textilkammare
Swedish, ca. 1957
Description

Allover pattern in red, black, and orange on white cotton with rows of zig-zag-edged squares enclosing halved irregular, rounded squares with circles and spots, evoking masks.

Slight fading running vertically, probably due to use as a curtain.

A panel of this fabric was exhibited in "Decorative Arts of Scandinavia," Los Angeles County Museum of Art, February 20-March 20, 1957. A panel in a colorway of chartreuse and blue is now in that museum.
