Wool tapestry entitled "Oiseau-Soleil," designed by Jean Picart Le Doux and handwoven at Aubusson at the Hamot atelier. With a composition featuring a dramatic, highly abstracted bird with long pointed beak and wavy, sunray-like feathers filling most of the field, standing on a wavy band with tapered ends in shades of yellow, red, brown, and black on bright red ground. Woven-in Hamot mark in lower left corner and artist's name in lower right corner; on the reverse, original label: "Oiseau-Soleil [hand-written] / TAPISSERIE D'AUBUSSON / H 1,60 x L 1,40 CARTON ORIGINAL DE / JEAN PICART LE DOUX / EDITE PAR HAMOT / Jean Picart Le Doux [hand-written signature in rectangle].
