This wool tent stitch (gros point) embroidery dates to the Régence or early Rococo period and features a continuous serpentine stem with naturalistically rendered roses, tulips, carnations, bluebells, and other flowers springing from a hilly mound. It was probably designed to adorn a panel from a screen or to be framed within boiseries. Embroidered on a heavyweight linen/hemp canvas.
Excellent condition.
