"Bizarre" brocaded silk damask with Chinese-inspired motifs, including hanging baskets of flowers in golden yellow, pink, and white on a figured/damask (plain-weave/satin) cornflower blue ground.
An identical silk is in the collection of the Abegg-Stiftung (4887); illustrated in Ackermann, Seidengewebe des 18. Jahrhunderts, Vol. I, Bizarre Seiden (2000), p. 243, no. 132.
Very good condition.
