Redwork curtain on a creamy white fustian ground embroidered in red worsted yarn with with motifs of fern sprays and foxgloves; the outer border with palmettes. Edged with original knotted linen fringe and lined in linen. Very good condition: minor discoloration to small areas of ground and some losses to wool embroidery.
Provenance
Waddon House,Weymouth, Dorset, UK. The curtain dates to the house's period of ownership under Thomas Gerard of Trent (1593–1634).
