Panel from a silk-embroidered linen coverlet with motifs in imitation of Deccani and Gujarati embroidery. With meandering, stylized florals and foliage on a false-quilted ground. Wide band at top with individual sprigs with narrow band below with scrolling floral vine; the field with large-scale serpentine flowering branches with roses, carnations, and tulips; narrow band with scrolling floral vine on all four sides; worked primarily in long-and-short and satin stitches and French knots in shades of red, pink, green, and yellow; the yellow silk false-quilted ground worked in backstitch

 

Very good condition. Conservation mounted to modern muslin for hanging
