Bannister Hall
Fine plain-weave cotton block printed with Persian berries to create the yellow, and glazed. Together, yellow, red, and black were a popular "Etruscan" color palette. Produced at Bannister Hall in Lancashire.
Identical curtains are in the collections of the V&A Museum (T.128-1973) and Old Sturbridge Village (26.77.12a-c). A nearly identical border design is in the G.P. & J. Baker Archives, London. The fabric was also reproduced by Brunschwig & Fils in about 1976 for three windows at Boscobel in Garrison, New York.
