Weaving sample with rayon warps and cotton chenille wefts produced in the workshop of Sigmund von Weech (1888–1982) in Schaftlach, Germany. Von Weech worked alongside Bauhaus weavers in the late 1920s and early 1930s in Berlin and was well known internationally for his upholstery and drapery fabrics.
Identical weavings in the blue colorway are in the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz (XII/8687), and the Met (2001.149, sold by Cora Ginsburg LLC). This textile in the blue colorway is illustrated in Drusilla Cole, 1000 Patterns: Design through the Centuries (2003), p. 264.
