Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst und Handwerk
Woven and block-printed furnishing sample in wool and cotton probably produced at the Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst und Handwerk in Munich. Featuring a variety of weave structures in overlapping squares and polygons of chevrons, stripes, Cubist motifs, stylized chrysanthemums, and mushroom-like trees. The maker then added an experimental technique to the already avant-garde composition by over-printing with blocks to delineate each box in yellow, light teal, bright pink, orange, and lavender.
Related wovens produced by the Vereinigten Werkstätten and dated 1928 and 1929 include those in the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz (III/8587, V/8874, V/9329).
