Rockwell Kent
Roller-printed cotton barkcloth by Rockwell Kent, entitled "Pine Tree." Designed by Kent for Saison Happily-Married Fabrics, a division of Bloomcraft. Depicting green and brown pine boughs, pinecones, and yellow butterflies on a white ground; one selvedge reads: SAISON HAPPILY-MARRIED FABRICS VAT PRINTS PRESHRUNK.
Kent used this fabric in his home; see photo in archive. An identical length is in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (2004.678). See a closely related gouache design for a textile in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (1976.536.29).
