Suzani hanging or cover with silk embroidery on linen, probably made in Istaravshan [formerly Ura-Tyube or Ura Tube], Tajikistan. Extremely densely and finely embroidered, with a central field with eight-lobed medallion, four flowering plants, and multiple types of flowerheads enclosed by border of red flowers. Outer field, floral lattice enclosing plants sprouting bilaterally symmetrical flower heads. Outer border of quartered flowerheads with two thinner guard borders of scrolling flowers.
Very good to excellent condition.

Private collection, Connecticut; collected in Afghanistan in the 1970s and later exhibited at Artweave Gallery, New York.
