Brocaded and self-figured silk satin panel. Salmon pink ground with scattered stylized floral and foliate sprays and sprigs in silver and silver-gilt metallic threads and ivory and pink silk threads.
Some tarnishing to metallic threads. Otherwise very good condition, with extremely vibrant color.
Provenance
Said to have been used as part of a bearing cloth in the UK. Found with the paper note: "The Christening Mantle worn about 130 [?] years ago at the Christening of Miss Lucas's grandmother Presented to Mr [Holy?] by Miss Lucas June 1805 [?]."
